COMPANY PROFILE

STX Finland Oy has three shipyards in Finland, Turku shipyard, Rauma shipyard and Arctech Helsinki Shipyard Oy, of which STX Finland Oy owns 50%. STX Finland's subsidiaries include Aker Arctic Technology Oy and STX Cabins Oy, among others. The company belongs to the STX Europe Group, an international shipbuilding group with a product range including cruise vessels, ferries, offshore services vessels, arctic and other specialized vessels. STX Europe has approximately 14,000 employees.

STX Europe's principal shareholder, the Korean-based international industrial group STX Business Group, has approximately 58,000 employees and aims to be a global top player in its core areas; shipping and trade, shipbuilding and machineries, plant and construction, and energy.  


The number of personnel in STX Finland Oy amounts to some 2500 employees. The company's "assembly yard" concept means employing directly these "own" people and lots of others in co-operation companies, thus boosting the whole surrounding economic region.

With a land area of 144 hectares Turku Shipyard is one of the biggest and most modern shipyards in Europe. STX Turku is an experienced builder of cruise ships and ferries and other special vessels. The newbuilding dock in Turku is 365 m x 80 m.  Rauma Shipyard is the world`s leading ferry builder, and is also specialized in small cruise ships, multipurpose icebreakers and research vessels and naval craft. STX Rauma has a newbuilding dock measuring 260 m x 85 m.

Arctech Helsinki Shipyard is employing approximately 400 persons and will focus on arctic maritime technology and shipbuilding and will unify Russian and Finnish Maritime clusters. The modern shipyard has a covered dry dock of 280,5 x 34 m.

STX Europe has built all 14 of the largest cruise ships in the world. STX Europe is known for innovative design prototypes. Besides the world's largest delivered, innovations like the first all-outside-cabin cruise ships, prefabricated cabins and bathroom modules, and indoor promenade originate from STX Europe. Finland's biggest export products, the worlds biggest and most innovative cruise ships Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas were delivered from Turku Shipyard in the end of years 2009 and 2010.

The orderbook of STX Finland Oy consists 13 newbuildings.
STX Finland Rauma Shipyard:  a car-passenger Ferry Spirit of France for P&O Ferries, a Polar Supply Research Vessel for South African Department of Environmental Affairs, a Fisheries Research Vessel for  Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources of the Republic of Namibia, a Double Ended Ferry for Finferries, two Well Intervention Vessels for Eide Marine and a Offshore Patrol Vessel for the Finnish Border Guard.
STX Finland Turku Shipyard: a Cruise Ferry for Viking Line, a Multipurpose Deck Cargo Vessel for Oy Gaiamare Ab and a Cruise Ship for TUI Cruises.
Arctech Helsinki Shipyard: two icebreaking Supply Vessels from Sovcomflot and a Emergency and Rescue Vessel for Russian Ministry of Transport.
