In September 2008 STX Business Group became major STX Europe shareholder with 92% stake, and thus gave birth to an international builder of sophisticated vessels among top global players. STX France SA is subsidiary of STX Europe with 50.1% stake and comprises two shipyards located in Lorient and Saint-Nazaire specialized in the construction of 30 to 300 meter long state-of-the-art passenger vessels. Two susidiaries complete the French structure. STX France Cabins, develops and produces pre-fabricated cabins for all kinds of passenger ships with a capacity of 6,000 cabins a year. And STX France Solutions renowned as competency centre in the fields of basic and detail designs.
The shipyards in Saint-Nazaire and Lorient offer a wide range of high-added value vessels ranging from 30 to 300+ metres long. The yard in Saint-Nazaire is capable to build post-panama size vessels, while Lorient is specialized in smaller-size ships. The orderbook of STX France SA includes 4 vessels to be delivered in 2010 and 2011: - MSC MAGNIFICA: a 1,275 cabin (2,600 pax) cruiseship of the Musica class to be delivered to MSC Cruises in February 2010;
- NORWEGIAN EPIC: a 2,100 cabin (4,700 pax) cruiseship to be delivered to Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) in June 2010.
- BPC DIXMUDE: a projection and command vessel, sistership of BPC Mistral and BPC Tonnerre, for the French Navy. To be delivered to DCNS Group end-2011 and under operation in 2012.
Above cruise ships are built at Saint-Nazaire shipyard. - One Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV70) for RAIDCO Marine International to be delivered on fourth semester 2010.
