The two SuperSpeed vessels were built and delivered from the STX Finland shipyard in Rauma in 2008. Since delivery the vessels have successfully operated between Norway and Denmark. The conversion will attend to the need for more passenger capacity and a greater offering of food services onboard. The conversion project is a result of 2 years of concept development, investigations and negotiations which have been conducted in close collaboration between Color Line and STX Finland's business unit which is specialized in retrofits, refurbishment and conversions - STX Finland Lifecycle Services.
The conversion project includes i.a. the construction of a two deck high Pizza Restaurant including air conditioning capacity and a small galley on deck 7 as well as two new lifeboats with davits and 24 new crew cabins on deck 10. A major part of the new structures will be built in aluminium in order to save weight.
We are extremely pleased having been awarded this prestigious contract and to able to continue our long lasting collaboration with Color Line also in the field of conversions - concludes Martin Landtman, president of STX Finland.
