AKER PROMAR TO BUILD OFFSHORE SUPPLY VESSEL

Aker Brattvaag's Brazilian subsidiary, Aker Promar, has signed a contract with the Italian company Augusta Offshore SpA for the construction of an offshore supply vessel for delivery in September 2005.

Augusta Offshore SpA has been in Brazil since 1997. The company currently owns and operates four supply vessels based in Aracajú, Natal and Macaé.
 
The vessel, which will be 16th to be built by Aker Promar, has the designation UT 755 L. It is an extended version of the well-respected UT 755 designed by Rolls-Royce, which will also be a major supplier of equipment to the project.
 
This contract will provide enough work to keep Aker Promar occupied until the fourth quarter 2005. The contract is worth around NOK 125 million.
 
According to Oddbjørn Hjelle, vice president shipbuilding at Aker Brattvaag, Brazil is an important and growing market for the Aker Brattvaag group of companies, and this contract underlines the positive developments taking place within the offshore sector in Brazil.
 
The vessel will measure 71.90 m in length, 16 m in width and will have a maximum cargo capacity of 3,200 tonnes.
 
Aker Brattvaag has held a 51 per cent stake in Aker Promar since 2001. The shipyard is strategically located at Conceicao Island just outside Rio de Janeiro.
